USA or USA-Hawaii: where should I go on exchange?

I'm applying for student exchange for December and January, and I don't know whether I should go to Hawaii or the mainland states of america. I like warm weather but I also don't mind snow. Are most people from mainland USA friendly? I've been to Hawaii before and everyone was really nice. Where should I go, and why? Thanks :)
