Why should we care about global warming?

It is not going to produce any lasting impacts on my life, so why should I be forced to pay exorbitant taxes just because of the "future of the human race"? I don't care if all life is eradicated on earth within 150 years, so long as it does not happen in my life time. I think most Americans share that sentiment. So, even if countries are trying to reduce their "carbon emissions", what are they going to do about our proudly excessive "carbon emissions"? Do people realize that there is no practical and feasible solution to global warming? Pie-in-the-sky solutions of global cooperation is just fantasy that should not be taken seriously.
